This project that is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council through their Knowledge Exchange scheme which seeks to turn Archives into Assets. It seeks to connect people to existing archives–whether documentary or material–to encourage an appreciation of the past and how historical decisions continue to influence our own lives in the here and now.
In this endeavour, the expertise of the Centre for English Local History at the University of Leicester has been brought together with that of Apercu Media, an organisation with a long track record of producing high-quality broadcasts on historical themes.
In the coming months (beginning October 2013) we will be building this website and creating other resources that we hope will bring the story of the M1 in Leicestershire and Leicester Forest East Services to live. Excuse, then, its current state. Over time we will create something far more coherent and comprehensive!
